MEDICARE 2007 Every year there are many changes to the Medicare program which may directly affect you. As you may be aware Medicare premiums and deductible/coinsurance amounts change every year for Part A and Part B. If you are like most people, you do not pay monthly premiums for Part A because you or your spouse have over 40 + quarters of covered employment. However, if you are not one of these individuals the 2007 premiums follow:
If you have between 30 and 39 quarters of Medicare-covered credit your premium will be $226.00; If you have less than 30 quarters of Medicare-covered credits and not eligible for premium-free hospital insurance you premium will be $410.00; Part B premiums for 2007 are $93.50per month.

The 2007 Medicare deductible is $992.00. Medicare will pay all inpatient hospital, skilled nursing and home health care costs minus the deductible.
If you are hospitalized for 1 to 60 days you will pay $992.00;
For the next 61-90 days you will pay $248.00 per day;
For the next 91-150 days you will pay $496.00 per day (Lifetime Reserve Days) and all costs beyond the 150th day.
If you need to be in a Skilled Nursing Facility you will pay $124.00 per day for days 21 through 100 (for each benefit period).
Medicare Part B will cover eligible physician services, some home health services and hospital outpatient service after you reach the $131.00 deductible per year. YOU pay 20% of the approved services after you meet this deductible. |
